The main national solar incentive
Most eligible small-scale rooftop solar installations can create Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) under the Australian Government's Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Retailers commonly assign the certificates and show their value as an upfront reduction in the quote.
The number and market value of STCs are not fixed. They depend on system capacity, installation location, installation date, eligibility and certificate prices. Ask for the STC quantity and assigned value to be itemised.

Battery support is a separate calculation
If a battery is included, an eligible installation may also receive support through the Cheaper Home Batteries Program. That discount applies to eligible battery capacity and should be shown separately from the solar-panel STC benefit.
State, territory and local programs
Additional rebates, loans and VPP incentives vary by jurisdiction and can open, close or change. Do not assume old programs such as NSW Empowering Homes or the SA Home Battery Scheme remain available. Check the relevant government program immediately before accepting a quote.
Eligibility and installation
- Use eligible equipment from the applicable approved-product lists.
- Use appropriately licensed and SAA-accredited installers.
- Obtain any required distributor or network approval.
- Confirm the quote separates retail price, certificates, rebates, finance charges and final payable amount.
- Do not treat a rebate estimate as guaranteed until eligibility is confirmed.
Is 10kW suitable for every property?
No. Roof area, shading, phase configuration, electricity use and network export limits affect the design. A larger array can be useful for high daytime demand, electrification or battery charging, but it should be based on a site assessment.
